R&R Flagpole Service was founded by Robert Ray in Southgate, Michigan.
With a background in welding and fabrication through his family's metal shop, Robert built his first 120-foot steel "Monster" flagpole with the craftsmanship and love of country that would become the foundation of R&R Flagpole Service. What began with hands-on fabrication and field service quickly grew into a company known for custom flagpoles, installation, repairs, flagpole climbing, and expert service work. From the very first flagpole Robert raised, the mission was clear: do the work right, stand behind it, and never stop loving what you do.
R&R Flagpole Service expanded into commercial flagpole contracting and larger custom projects.
As word spread and demand grew, R&R Flagpole Service earned the trust of residential, commercial, municipal, and government customers across the region. It was also during this season that Cheryl Ray joined the business, bringing her own love of country and a steady hand that helped shape the company's vision, culture, and direction. Robert and Cheryl built R&R together, and that partnership became just as much a part of the company's identity as the flagpoles themselves.
R&R Flagpole Service entered a major season of growth.
With a growing team and increasing demand, R&R celebrated its first record-breaking year, selling hundreds of aluminum and steel flagpoles and completing thousands of installations, repairs, climbs, and service projects. From routine service calls to some of the most complex flagpole jobs in the country, R&R Flagpole Service continued building a name rooted in experience, reliability, and craftsmanship that customers could count on year after year.
R&R Flagpole Service acquired Flagpoles Etc.
After decades in the field, R&R Flagpole Service acquired Flagpoles Etc, bringing together two companies united by the same values. The acquisition expanded Flagpoles Etc into retail flag and flagpole sales, nationwide shipping, and a broader range of residential products, while building on an already strong foundation in commercial, municipal, and government manufacturing, installation, and repair. For R&R, it was a natural next step. For Flagpoles Etc, it was the beginning of a new chapter with the experience and passion to back it up.
Flagpoles Etc continues that legacy with American-made craftsmanship, personal service, and a deep love for country.
We are honored to be a leading manufacturer of colossal steel "Monster" flagpoles and one of the few companies with the experience to both manufacture and install them. From residential flagpoles to major commercial, municipal, and government projects, Flagpoles Etc is passionate about fabrication, demanding service work, and hard-to-reach climbing jobs that many others will not touch. This has never been just a job to us. It is a craft, and it is a calling. We have grown over the decades without losing the personal touch that built this business, and we intend to keep it that way. R&R expanded to 8 employees and had its first record year of over 300 poles sold.
After decades of product development and industry experience, R&R merges with Flagpoles Etc, bringing commercial manufacturing, installation, and repair experience to the residential market.
Flagpoles Etc continues to be a leader in the flagpole industry, and over 30 employees and growing, we continue to bring quality products and services to commercial and residential customers across the country.
We continue to expand our manufacturing processes to bring direct-to-consumer products made in America. We are. Scheduled to expand our flag and pole manufacturing by creating new and innovative products that provide added value and longevity. We are also opening stores across the country to help reduce consumer costs and provide better lead times to all our customers.
